TOLD Newsletter  November  2017

TOLD has been in constant discussions with the Government and there has been no change to our stance regarding the taxi issues and reforms. We believe that a fair amount of the Buyback should be $295,000 per plate, which was the average price before Uber illegally entered the WA market.

In our most recent meeting with the Minister, we were assured that the Taxi Buyback & Reforms issue is the Top Priority for the Government. An announcement from the Minister, in relation to the Buyback & future of the Taxi industry, will be made in the very near future. At the present the amount of the Buyback figure or any details relating to the reform have NOT been revealed

Once the Minister makes the announcement, we will then be able to make informed and well thought out decisions as to our individual circumstances & future. Others from outside of the industry will have their views and will comment on the situation. DO NOT let any side matters or views taint or distract you from the issue at hand. It’s been and still is an ongoing long road ahead of us.

We have a good relationship with this Government and our input is valued.

First, let’s wait for the announcement from the Minister, and then take your time to digest what that announcement contains. The process after that, is for the Bill to be presented to the Parliament and, if passed, for Legislation to go through and whatever Acts of Legislation to be enacted.

Please see the attached letter from Rita Saffioti the Minister for Transport.

P.S.

We appreciate all your help and positive input so far. We are fully aware of how draining this process has been, and still is, for all the owners. However, considerable progress has been made due to our persistence. We are expecting to have one more global (TOLD) meeting to be called in due course; the date and time will be publicised on this website.
